ATMOSFAN OF THE WEEK

People often ask us, how does AtmosFX find the inspiration for new digital decoration innovations?

It’s simple. We get by with a little help from our friends.

The AtmosFX community has taught us that when you provide new tools to a bunch of creative people, you’ll always be amazed with the results. Digital decorating fans are continually inspiring our team with incredible feats of digital decorating goodness. Because a little inspiration goes a long way, the AtmosFAN of the Week program was launched in September 2015 to shine a spotlight on our favorite decorators. We've immortalized these triumphs in our AtmosFAN Hall of Fame, to further inspire other decorators to dream up the Next Big Thing in digital decorating.

Are you ready to claim your place in the AtmosFAN Hall of Fame? We’re accepting pictures and videos from around the world, in search of the next digital decorating superstar. Click the button below to submit your entry today!

AtmosFAN’s Ode to Halloween – A Visual Feast

October 19, 2020 — Sometimes we like playing “I Spy” when we receive a video submission from a particularly clever AtmosFAN – can we find all the projectors? By our count, Christopher Kucan deployed a total of eight projectors at his Huntley, Illinois, home.

AtmosFAN Creates Clever (and Easy!) Crystal Ball

October 14, 2020 — We are always on the lookout for super-easy DIY Halloween creations that take an already astounding Halloween decoration display and make it even astoundinger. That’s where Heidi Ferguson, who lives with her family in Lehi, Utah, comes in. She put together a simple how-to video on making a crystal ball that is capable of flawlessly displaying Eerie Eyes and Halloween Moon digital decoration collections, among others.

AtmosFAN Modifies Mausoleum for Extreme Screams

October 8, 2020 — Like everyone, we love a good Halloween prop. But we extra love it when it has been modified to make it scarier and cooler! Jerry Morse of Port Charlotte, Florida, has created a simple and captivating mausoleum and then outfitted it with Hollusion Projection Material to ratchet-up the creepy factor.

AtmosFAN’s Display Has a Little Bit of Everything

September 30, 2020 — With a month to go before Halloween, this is the time we are always looking for more examples, more ideas, more clever ways to display more digital decorations. For that reason, we were delighted to receive this submission from Ian Moore of Surrey, British Columbia – it has a little bit of everything, all done to perfection.

AtmosFAN Builds a Perfect Way to Display ‘Halloween Window’

September 23, 2020 — We always get excited when we start seeing our newly released digital decorations in the wild. But that level of excitement approached stratospheric levels when we saw how Matt Howard and his family chose to display the Halloween Window Digital Decoration.

AtmosFANs Inspire Others with Clever ‘How-to’ Videos

September 17, 2020 — With Halloween just seven weeks away, we know there are so many of you building so many impressive displays. And there’s nothing better than inspiring people inspiring others. With that in mind, we thought we’d showcase just a few people that are making it their mission to inspire others through their own how-to videos. Who doesn’t need that as we approach the Halloween home stretch?

AtmosFAN Spellbinds with Captivating Prop Mirror

September 9, 2020 — There’s nothing better than a captivating prop that draws in viewers to get a closer look, asking themselves ‘how’d they do that’? That’s what Dave Trammell of South Jordan, Utah, built – a clever false mirror that displays the strange specters of Macabre Manor. If that weren’t enough, we really love how David’s mirror responds when people get too close!

AtmosFAN Creates Big Time Outdoor Display

September 2, 2020 — For the same reason we love drive-in movie screens, we love the sides of houses and garage doors. Why? They are two GIANT canvases on which to project digital decorations. That’s why we love what Michael Maus of Charlotte, North Carolina, is doing. He’s taking advantage of his largest spaces to create Halloween digital displays that aren’t just big – they’re next level big!

AtmosFAN’s Crafty Silhouettes Frame Favorite Digital Decorations

August 27, 2020 — There’s lots of ways to use digital decorations – and sometimes subtle applications of them really go a long, and spectacular, way. That is certainly the case for the stunning silhouettes made by Dan Magee. He’s been crafting a series of intricately detailed plywood designs at his Wake Forest, North Carolina, home for the past several years. And his creations keep growing!

Among the First to Post a new Digital Decoration? That’s AtmosFAN Material!

August 19, 2020 — We admit, we always get a charge out of seeing our newest digital decorations displayed in the wild. And yes, even though there are still 10 weeks to go before Halloween, it is never too early to see how good your decorations can look before The Big Day. That’s why we were giddy to see that Jeff Baird of Lehi, Utah, posted a test run of Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree 2 Digital Decoration on three uncarved pumpkins.

AtmosFAN Still Brings it, Years Later

August 13, 2020 — We’ve been a fan of Zach Breaux for several years, ever since he sent us a great Halloween “how-to” video back in 2016 when he first discovered digital decorating. Now, years later, the stuff he built back then still looks great – as does the new stuff! That got us thinking that it’d be fun to check in with him and talk about the changes he’s seen in digital decorating in the past several years.

This AtmosFAN’s Halloween Display Has a Different Type of Monster

August 6, 2020 — As much as we love traditional Halloween decoration displays, we really love Halloween decoration displays that are just a little bit different. And if it includes dinosaurs? Done deal! That’s the beauty of Chad Dunning’s display at his Muskego, Wisconsin, home – it is, at once, ahead of its time and 200 million years behind it.

AtmosFAN Goes All-In Inside AND Outside her House

July 22, 2020 — Some people decorate outside their house for Halloween. Others decorate inside. We love both types. But we’ve got a special place in our heart for those who do BOTH. And, when we say both, we’re talking about those who are so all-in, they’re willing to put a full size animatronic in their living room! Yeah, we’re talking about you, Stacy Paskett of Roy, Utah. And we love it!

AtmosFAN Builds Great Doorway Projection

July 8, 2020 — We think projecting in your doorway is both underutilized AND is super-easy to deploy at your home. And as a great example of how good it can look, we bring to you something that Justin Cannon, of Chubbuck, Idaho, sent us. It is crisp and clear – and because people don’t expect to see a decoration in the actual doorway, it really makes a visual impact.

Christmas Comes Early Thanks to This AtmosFAN

June 24, 2020 — We're halfway to Christmas. So, we thought we’d celebrate the occasion by spotlighting this holiday display from Bill Whittaker of Hudson, Florida. Here's what we love about Bill's display. It is a great collection of multiple projection modes in one location – in this case: prop, wall and window modes. And it's never too early to start thinking about your Christmas decorations, right?

AtmosFAN Creates Vivid Display That’s Easy to Hide Away

June 19, 2020 — As we start thinking about our displays for the upcoming Halloween, we thought we’d begin by highlighting something sent to us by Rob Votaw of Oak Grove, Missouri. He’s put together a bright and detailed display that’s almost completely enclosed in his garage, making it really easy to tuck away at the end of the night.

Atmosfan’s Virtual Background Gives Us a Laugh

June 11, 2020 — Last week we got a good laugh at an AtmosFAN who used Zombie Invasion! Digital Decoration to express how his family felt after months adhering to a stay-home order. Well, we had another chuckle from Dave Smith of Plymouth Meeting, Penn., who used the same digital decoration to express his frustration with having to take part in multiple Zoom calls each day.

Atmosfan Expresses What We Are All Feeling

June 3, 2020 — No matter where your state might be in the reopening process, we think everyone would agree that it felt like that day would never get here. So, for all of you that still feel a little cooped up, we provide some humor thanks to AtmosFAN Michael Anglin of Kerrville, Texas. He and his family have done a great job expressing the way so many of us feel these days!

Atmosfan Translates Digital Decorations for German Fans

May 20, 2020 — We’ve known about Timo Fischer for years – he’s been creating incredible digital decoration displays for years at his home in Walldorf, Germany. But what really got us interested was his current project. Timo has built software that allows native German speakers to translate digital decorations from English into German.

A Halloween Display Rich in Detail

May 6, 2020 — We never get tired of fantastic Halloween displays – that is true even in May. This week we take you to southeastern British Columbia, where Brandon Kootnekoff put together an incredibly detailed Halloween display – one that keeps growing each year, both in complexity and in detail.

Three AtmosFANs Bring the Goods for Easter!

April 22, 2020 — We are like the rest of you – we all need a few more happy surprises these days. So, even though Easter is behind us, we thought we’d share three great submissions from our AtmosFANs that gave us a pleasant jolt of springtime joy.

AtmosFAN Builds Community During Time of Social Distancing

April 8, 2020 — With schools closed and large public gatherings discouraged, Amanda Mullarkey of Naperville, Illinois, was looking for some creative ways to pass the time with her kids. First, she created a drive-in movie theater by projecting videos and digital decorations on the side of her home, where other families could watch safely isolated in their cars. But if that weren't enough, she then put on a digital display to show appreciation for all the people in her community who were on the front lines battling the coronavirus pandemic.
