AtmosFAN’s Massive Rural Display Becomes Halloween Destination

Some people put out a few decorations for Halloween. Others go all out and decorate their entire yard. Then there’s AtmosFAN Dennis M. of Blanco, Texas, who has transformed two acres of his 10-acre Texas Hill Country property into what might be the most ambitious Halloween display we’ve seen – complete with custom-built screens measuring up to 25 feet wide and displays so bright that local firefighters once responded to reports of an actual blaze.

“Since it is a drive to come to my property, I want to make it an experience so that people can stay for a while,” Dennis tells us.

Dennis has created a Halloween experience of truly Texas-size proportions. Spread along the fence line at the front of his property, his display features multiple massive projection surfaces. As a hobbyist woodworker, Dennis constructed these impressive screens himself, including several measuring 9 feet by 15 feet using Hollusion Projection Material, and a truly massive main screen spanning an incredible 12 feet by 25 feet. He also created perfectly sized large wood pumpkins, onto which he displayed the Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree 3 Decoration Collection.

This is a critical consideration when you live in a rural area where traditional trick-or-treating isn’t practical. His solution was to create a display so impressive that people would willingly make the journey to experience it. Dennis has designed his display to be enjoyed from vehicles driving slowly along the fence line. Others choose to park and walk for a more immersive experience.

“We have to go the extra mile to get the trick-or-treaters to drive to our property,” Dennis says.

Dennis says he’s built about 95% of the structures along his fence line, displaying more than 10 AtmosFX Decoration Collections, including Legends of Halloween: Scarecrow, Phantasms, Bone Chillers – even Ghostly Pets!

One of those few displays that Dennis didn’t personally build, we love as well. Here, he inflated three 3DFX Forms and perfectly displayed the Boo Crew Decoration Collection onto the life-size props. The trio of ghosts sing and banter through the night, looking fabulous!

Now in its third year, Dennis calls his display the “Horton Preiss Haunt,” and it has clearly evolved into something special. What began as a way to bring Halloween to a remote location has transformed into a regional attraction that demonstrates how AtmosFX Decorations can be scaled up for maximum impact.

In fact, perhaps too much impact! Dennis recalls that last year, the Inferno Decoration Collection created such a realistic conflagration that it prompted concerned neighbors to call emergency services.

“I had the fire department come out because they got a call from one of the neighbors on the land around us who thought there was a fire in the woods,” Dennis recalls. “I’ll never forget the looks on the firemen’s faces when they pulled up to my property! Thanks Inferno and thank you AtmosFX!”
