Most jack-o’-lanterns sit on porches, but AtmosFAN Shane R. decided his needed a better view. By mounting three giant plywood pumpkins on the roof of his Tillamook, Oregon, home, he created a display that literally rises above the rest.
As you can see in the image above, Shane’s handcrafted wooden pumpkins dominate the roofline – though it is hard to miss all the good stuff below! Like so many Halloween decorations, by day the giant pumpkins sit as a static testament to Shane’s love of Halloween. But, when night falls, they transform into animated characters.
Using an AtmosKIT projector strategically positioned to reach the rooftop, Shane projected several of the Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree decoration collections onto his large orange creations. The effect is striking – the pumpkins appear to come alive, with expressive faces that change, speak, and interact with each other. Shane has created a seamless illusion making it appear these gargantuan gourds are actually singing and telling jokes.
“Very amazed, curious how I had done it,” Shane tells us about visitors’ reactions. “People came from all over to watch.”
We love it when decorators go big with their DIY craftsmanship. By building his own oversized pumpkins rather than using store-bought decorations, Shane created a truly unique display that showcases the versatility of AtmosFX Decorations when paired with a little imagination and some simple woodworking skills.
