Halloween may come only once a year, but AtmosFAN Michael M. of Las Vegas, Nevada, has found a way to make it feel like six different holidays. By completely changing his display every few days, he’s created a Halloween experience that keeps neighbors coming back again and again to see what new surprises await them.
“Everyone loves my displays. I have six themes and change them every three to four days throughout the month of October,” Michael tells us.
Michael’s rotating carousel of themes uses (and reuses!) a ton of clever props, fantastic lighting, and more than a dozen AtmosFX Decorations displayed on windows, surfaces, Hollusion Projection Material and even uncarved pumpkins. A great example is in the image above, you can see a theme a la Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, where his yard is transformed into a fiery naval battle scene using AtmosFX’s Inferno Decoration Collection.
That, unto itself, would make for an AtmosFAN of the Week-worthy display. But then Michael changes it up, creating a spider-infested witches’ lair, a skeleton-infested graveyard where the dead refuse to rest quietly, a haunted old-fashioned manor with a creepy skeleton horse-drawn carriage, or a haunted pumpkin patch where it appears that uncarved pumpkins have come to life.
Speaking of that, use of pumpkin mode projections is particularly effective, with real pumpkins that appear to sing and tell jokes when the Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree decorations are projected onto them. We also love his use of the AtmosFX 3DFX Form, which creates a three-dimensional effect when he projects onto it. You can find the 3DFX Form in many of Michael’s displays, but we particularly love the Fortune Teller from Halloween Hosts Decoration Collection. The mysterious figure appears to be gesturing and speaking to passers-by – even magically levitating a pack of Tarot cards into her hands.
We love how Michael is creating something new every few days – it means his neighbors will always have something new to check out. Sure, there’s a lot of planning and moving of props and lights, but one component is relatively easy – he can completely change one eye-catching component of each display by simply switching which AtmosFX Decoration is being projected.
The constantly evolving nature of Michael’s display has made his home a must-visit location throughout October, not just on Halloween night. Neighbors know that a single visit isn’t enough to see everything he has to offer, encouraging a community atmosphere as people return again and again to see what’s new.
