For those of us who like to walk cemeteries, this week’s AtmosFAN of the Week is sort of like finding a long-neglected gravestone in an overgrown corner of the grounds. This little treasure has been buried since 2021, when AtmosFAN Brian B. of Finleyville, Pennsylvania, showcased how one simple addition to a Halloween graveyard display can give it uncommon depth.
To be sure, Brian had already created a compact yet highly detailed cemetery scene that looks great in his yard. Tombstones of various designs rise from the grass, while a gargoyle perches ominously atop one of the markers in an eerie purple light. Crosses, small fence sections, and other cemetery elements complete the traditional Halloween tableau.
What transforms this display from good to great, however, is Brian’s strategic use of the Halloween Moon Decoration Collection projected behind the gravestones. The large, glowing full moon with its silhouetted owl perched on a branch creates a dramatic backdrop that instantly adds dimension and atmosphere to the entire scene.
What makes Brian’s display particularly instructive is how it demonstrates that sometimes the most effective decorating techniques are also the simplest. By adding just one well-placed projection to an otherwise traditional cemetery display, he’s created something with much greater visual impact and immersive quality.
Indeed, Brian’s approach offers a valuable lesson: consider how a single, strategic projection can complement and elevate your existing decorations. The neighbors certainly seem to appreciate such elevation, Brain tells us. “They are amazed every year by the amazing projections and ask me how I did it.”
