You’ll have to forgive us, but we’re always a bit excited when we start seeing the season’s newest digital decorations out in the wild. So, we’re doing something a little different.
This week we are honoring two Freaks of the Week – the first two Halloween enthusiasts who were spotted decorating with Macabre Manor or Trick ’r Treat. (We said we’d be offering bonus points for new releases, didn't we?) Because it is still early in the season, both honored Freaks still don't have their full displays up, but we still to see the new stuff out there. For us, it is kind of like seeing your kid go off college.
The first Freak is Matt E., from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Matt has been decorating with AtmosFX Digital Decorations for years, and he was eager to get Macabre Manor in the mix. Matt has extra motivation to put on an extra impressive display this season. His family was affected by the devastating flooding in Louisiana this past August, as was the case for many of his neighbors.
“Luckily, I was able to get my home together just in time to get my yearly display out,” Matt says. “Hopefully it'll bring a tiny bit of joy to the kids in our neighborhood and the ones that come in from the surrounding area. There are many families that have been through a lot in the past few months.”
That community spirit is reason enough to honor Matt E. reason enough as Freak of the Week!
The second Freak of the Week honor goes to Daron Thomas of Greenfield, Indiana. He and his family have been fans of the film Trick ’r Treat since 2008 – in fact, every year his family carves pumpkins and watches the movie together. For that reason, Daron says it was a natural to try out the new Trick ’r Treat Digital Decoration.
As you can see from his video, Daron has been testing out the doorway/wall mode at in the doorway of his own home – to great effect! When Daron and his family finish setting up this year, they’ll have several projections running at once, including Witching Hour Hollusion effect, pumpkin projection using Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree, Bone Chillers display and, of course, Sam from Trick ‘r Treat. We can’t wait to see the full display.
Way to be on the cutting edge of decorating, Matt and Daron! This makes you co-Freaks of the Week. And for the rest of you, do you think you have what it takes to be the next Freak of the Week? Show us how you’re using our digital decorations and YOU may be our next featured decorator! Send your photos or YouTube links to firstname.lastname@example.org, and make sure to put "Freak of the Week" in the subject line.
