There are a lot of good reasons to love Jorge R.’s full-yard Halloween display at his Charlotte, North Carolina, home – not the least of which being that you could get lost in his video looking at all of the different Halloween props, techniques and, of course, AtmosFX Decorations.
To hear Jorge tell it, his home has become something of a meeting place for those in the neighborhood. “We are the Halloween house,” he says. “Kids look forward to my setup every year. It excites all the neighbors because of all the extra trick-or-treaters we get.”
It’s easy to see why. Jorge has everything going in his Halloween display. The projection of snakes on the ground (using Creepy Crawlies 2 Decoration Collection) is a classic, and the ghostly Lord and Lady of the House (from Macabre Manor Decoration Collection) loom menacingly in the doorway. Other times, its the Creepy Clowns in the doorway.
And that’s just the beginning. There’s a unique and unusual outdoor presentation of UnLiving Portraits Decoration Collection front-and-center. And we always love to see a single Eerie Eye looking over it all on an AtmosFX Decorating Disc XL. We think we count seven AtmosFX Decorations in his display – and we’re pretty sure we missed a few.
But there’s another reason Jorge’s property has become the “Halloween House” over the past several years. Jorge says he had always built Halloween displays with his father when they were younger; Jorge’s father was a big Halloween fan. Jorge wanted to do the same and about six years ago he started on his own Halloween project.
“It all started with my pumpkin display (Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree Decoration) and a few purple lights,” Jorge recalls. “Everyone lost their minds with the talking pumpkins. That same year my father was battling cancer. He was able to see my display and I believe it brought him some joy.”
Jorge’s father lost his battle with cancer a few days later. Jorge channeled his grief into his Halloween display at the time, and he still adds to it each year as a way of remembering his father, and the joy his father brought to trick-or-treaters back in the day with his own Halloween display.
“Halloween was very special for my father and me,” Jorge says. “In honor of my father, my displays grow and bring joy to everyone in the neighborhood – my home is a meeting place every night. Many friends have been made. Hundreds of trick-or-treaters show up and the entire neighborhood joins in. My pops would be proud!”
