Anyone who has watched a Peanuts television special during Halloween knows about the “Great Pumpkin.” Well, with apologies to Charles M. Schultz, there’s the Great Pumpkin, and then there’s Michael Lamb’s GREAT pumpkin. We are pretty amazed with the display he put together at his Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., home.
We are always delighted when AtmosFANs assemble a massive pumpkin patch and intermix the silly faces from any of the three Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree Decoration Collections into it. We’ve seen many great ones. But we’ve never seen a pumpkin as large as this as the centerpiece!
Michael tells us that his pumpkin is made out of dense foam – so large that he had to stick rebar into it to be able to move it easily. All told, it took him about eight weeks from concept to completion. That includes fiber optics, candles, three projectors and a sync device that Michael designed to coordinate them all.
“I also initially had 12 other pumpkins making funny and scary faces,” he says, “but they just got drowned out from the massive center pumpkin.”
That’s Witching Hour Decoration Collection on the backside of the pumpkin, and Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree 3 Decoration Collection on the front, playing Monster Mash.
The neighborhood, needless to say, took great delight in Michael’s splendid creation. “Over the course of three weeks, hundreds of people took pictures with the display,” he says. “We even came home and a lady was broadcasting her yoga class in front. People dressed up their pets and took Christmas cards. It was a tremendous success.”
