We love all things pumpkin – pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin lattés – even pumpkin Twinkies. And supreme above all: We love a good Pumpkin Mode Display. And there are few better than what YouTube’s TFD360 put together – a striking display featuring The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as told by a loquacious pumpkin, plus gravestones, low-lying fog and much, much more.
This is only the third year the YouTube poster that goes by the handle of TFD360 has been using AtmosFX Decorations but, by the looks of things, you’d think he’s been doing it since the time when Washington Irving was his next door neighbor.
Throughout the front-yard graveyard, there are terrific headstones that serve as the perfect pedestal for the three pumpkins that become the centerpiece of the display. Don’t miss the headstone in the foreground – that’s actually a cleverly crafted projector blind that not only disguises the projector, but can also protect it from the elements. Here’s a great tutorial on building one.
For those unfamiliar with Pumpkin Mode displays, this is the technique of projecting one of three AtmosFX Decorations (Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree Decoration and its two sequels) onto uncarved pumpkins. When you set it up just right – like TFD360 did here – the pumpkins appear to come alive. Between the three AtmosFX Decorations, there are tons of scenes available that can be mixed-and-matched, where the pumpkins sing, tell stories and jokes … and even attempt a good-natured scare!
According to TFD360, the Pumpkin Mode Display was a big hit in his community. And it was a great way to get both kids and parents to explore other parts of his Halloween display, too. “Trick-or-Treaters couldn’t wait to see the other digital decorations on display at my home,” he tells us. Clearly, there is a lot of great stuff to see!
