It’s easy to salivate over multiple-acre Halloween displays that use more wattage than Times Square on New Year’s Eve. But as Rob V., proves at his Oak Grove, Missouri, home, you don’t need a ton of space to create an immersive decoration experience.
In what is a fairly small space (by Halloween decorator standards, at least) Rob’s got three screens going in front of his garage – one television screen, and two back-lit projections on Window Projection Material, or similar.
On a display such as this, back-lit projections are essential, because they allow trick-or-treaters and other interested Halloween fans to get up close and inspect the skeletons, jack-o’-lanterns and other props without getting in the way of the projector’s beam. By hiding the projectors behind the screens, it also makes it a bit harder for visitors to figure out how you pulled-off the effect in the first place.
“Many people say that this house is the highlight on their trick-or-treating route,” Rob tells us.
Big and bold, you might guess that Rob’s projections are large enough to attract trick-or-treaters from the other side of the neighborhood. But that’s the point, right? He’s condensed his Halloween display to a central focal point, full of playful decorations that appeal to the costumed children. No doubt, on Halloween night, they collect right there to gawk, laugh and dance.
Rob says the ‘Bone Chiller Band’ from Bone Chillers Decoration Collection is consistently a crowd favorite. And you know the dancing monsters from Halloween Monster Bash gets the kids shakin’ their costumes!
“I continue to back down the scare factor so many of the little treaters can laugh more and cringe less,” Rob says. “But I still can’t resist some good creepy stuff mixed in with the Boo Crew, the pumpkins (Jack-O’-Lantern Jamboree) and Bone Chillers.”
Great work, Rob – we love how you bring a big and bold Halloween spirit to your neighborhood!
