Convention season continues at full speed! Labor Day weekend saw PAX West and Dragon Con, and our friends up north in Toronto convened Fan Expo Canada.
And that’s where we brought the AtmosFX full-booth experience. It was awesome.
The 135,000+ fans that came to the show had a chance to get autographs with a lot of great celebrities including Tim Curry, Kathleen Turner, Nathan Fillon, John Barrowman, Bruce Campbell, Billie Piper, Matt Smith, Felicia Day and so many more. In addition, there were booths showing off the costumes of the upcoming Thor Ragnarok movie, a chance to climb on a Viking ship for a fun photo (for the "Vikings" TV series), and a really cool VR experience onboard a school bus for the upcoming IT remake. And this doesn’t even count all of the panels, shopping opportunities, cool artists and amazing cosplay at this four-day show!
With a show this big, full of fantasy and horror and science fiction and comics fans, we couldn’t turn down the chance to be there, so off to Toronto we went!
Outside of some challenges with our rental home (anyone leave their wet laundry in the washer? We have it!) and some shipping delays, we were able to set up our full booth experience at the show for the entire four days.
Our booth consisted of several setups to allow fans to see how fun our decorations are – and, of course, how easy they are to set up. We had a full-size window displaying our decorations in window mode, a “fireplace” showing how our decorations can be displayed on a television, and three framed portraits in a gruesome gallery showcasing how UnLiving Portraits can be run with just one projector.
Of course, there was also a sales area where our Canadian friends could buy gear and decorations without paying shipping fees. Also unveiled at Fan Expo Canada was our Gourdy plushie, which (drum roll, please!) will be available in the AtmosFX Online Store soon.
And speaking of Gourdy, he was in top form explaining our decorations, joking with fans, and generally trying to be more helpful than in the way. Watch for his show report to come soon.
Fan Expo Canada was a great show in a beautiful city and we thank all of the fans that came by!
Next we will have smaller appearances at Renton Comic Con and the Portland HP Lovecraft Film Festival where we hope to see you.
