The idea that haunted houses are somehow limited to Halloween is rapidly dying out. Christmas themed-haunts and bloody Valentine's houses of horrors are cropping up all over.
Just as the movie industry has learned that fright fans will go to theaters all year long, pro-haunters are tapping into our growing appetite for fear. In our blog this week, we're profiling a few of the haunts hosting special events for St. Patrick's "Slay" but, even more excitingly, some who are opening in March and staying open into November! Is there one near you?
As always, this list is informational only. AtmosFX does not endorse individual haunts and, actually recommends that wholesome people with upstanding values celebrate St. Patrick's Day in more traditional ways. However, for the rest of us...

Trimper's Haunted House — Ocean City, MD (March 1 - November 30th, 2018)
The Haunted House, located at Trimper’s Amusements in Ocean City, Maryland, is one of the last remaining Bill Tracy attractions left in the world. Originally built in 1964 and expanded in 1988, this five-minute-long attraction offers ride-goers a glimpse into classic Tracy artistry and a spooky experience filled with thrills and chills.
As visitors venture through the attraction in a vessel modeled after an antique coffin complete with "Rest In Peace" stamped on the back, they will find themselves disoriented in crooked passageways, turned inside-out as they are forced through a spinning vortex, suddenly upside-down in one of the mansion's bedrooms, frightened as they come face-to-face with an oncoming locomotive, and terrified, or amused, by Bill Tracy's unforgettable stunts.

The Panic on St. Pats at the Haunted Forest at Panic Point — Youngsville, NC (March 17th, 2018)
Spring is a time of transition where all things dormant, decaying, and rotting return to life. Not so fast! Before we hit the equinox and fully embrace the light, we commemorate one more final night on the haunted calendar filled with darkness and terror. Death is in season. The “Trooping Fairies” of the Celtic underworld will have their voices heard, while Pagan spells and incantations take hold of all who enter.
Dark Hour — Plano, TX (March 16 & 17)
You’ll need more than the luck of the Irish to survive this struggle…
The Irish hold the legend of Saint Patrick, whose story is a common one, and the witches know it well. They waited until the veil between the world of humans and the world of faeries was stretched thin and Shannon MacKenna rose to power in the Dark Hour coven. She called upon the Leprechaun and the Fomorian giants, the trolls, faeries, and goblins. She demanded that they go out and hunt men, using them in rituals as she makes a mockery of the holiday… now they’re taking back what is theirs and more, and the witches are scrambling for power and dominance with you in the crossfire.
Note: this haunt is open all year-round so the dates above are only for the special St. Patrick's Day event. Additional special events include Spring Fever in April and Dog Days of Summer in June and July.
