Some Christmas decorations are made for the tree. And the wrapped gifts go under them. Mike R., however, places his in the front yard – and they’re big enough to see from a block away. It’s no surprise that his oversized gift box and Christmas tree ornament, complete with AtmosFX projections on Hollusion Projection Material, turn heads in his Bradenton, Florida, neighborhood during the holiday season.
Mike’s approach is both creative and practical. He’s built custom frames – one shaped like a wrapped present with a bow on top, another like a classic round ornament – and stretched Hollusion Projection Material across them. Then, from behind the displays, he projects AtmosFX Decorations to bring the oversized ornaments to life.
The rectangular present frame is perfectly suited for traditional projection displays – as if AtmosFX displays could ever be called “traditional.” But you get the point. Like a display in a window or a doorway, the rectangular space makes it easy for Mike to showcase Yuletide Window and Santa’s Sleigh Ride decoration collections, among others.
But it’s the circular ornament that really catches the eye. Mike created a round frame and stretched Hollusion Projection Material around it, then projected Yuletide Window in Decorating Disc Mode – an additional mode optimized for circular projections. The mode is perfect for creating a large ornament, like Mike has, or an enormous snow globe, another very popular effect in recent years.
“Everyone loves both our Halloween and Christmas decorations,” Mike tells us. “This year we added some decor which was suited for projecting.”
