First-Time Decorators Build AtmosFAN-Worthy Snow Globe

When Suzanne and Steven H. of Madison, Mississippi, visited their relatives’ Halloween display and saw AtmosFX Decorations in action, Steven became obsessed. By Christmas, they’d built their first-ever holiday decoration: a massive snow globe. Not bad for beginners – and their neighbors’ grandkids agree, showing up nightly for the Singing Snowman dance party.

The inspiration came from Steven’s uncles, who are serious decorators with three different projections set up for Halloween – and over 200 visitors on Halloween night alone. After seeing what AtmosFX Decorations could do, Steven and Suzanne decided to give the snow globe a shot.

The biggest challenge? Figuring out what to use for the actual globe. That’s where the AtmosFX Decorating Community on Facebook came in clutch. The group is an invaluable resource for decorators looking to learn techniques, troubleshoot problems, and get inspired – and lately, snow globe displays have been blowing up in the community. Suzanne and Steven browsed through examples, created a pros-and-cons list for different materials, and ultimately settled on an inflatable water walking ball.

From there, it was about building the right base and adding the finishing touches. They found a metal raised garden bed that worked perfectly as a foundation, then decorated it with red lights and candy cane accents to create that classic snow globe look. Inside the globe, they’re projecting Singing Snowman and Santa and His Elves decoration collections, bringing the display to life.

“We are definitely a hit in the neighborhood especially with my neighbors’ four small grandkids who come over every night to dance and sing along with Frosty,” Suzanne tells us.

The success has sparked bigger plans. Suzanne and Steven have already started a notebook full of ideas for next Christmas – including adding a couple more projections. But the real production is coming next Halloween. “It is going to be awesome but we are going to need several projectors so we have started looking already,” Suzanne says. “We plan to give my uncles a run for their money!”

With 200-plus Halloween visitors to beat, they’ve got their work cut out for them. But if this snow globe is any indication, those uncles better watch out.
