Most people use their garage for cars. Robert B. of Chino Hills, California, uses his for a haunted parlor. He built a false wall across the entire opening, added a stone fireplace, Gothic portraits, skulls, and candelabras – then hid four TVs behind it. The neighborhood is delighted. The cars? Less so.

The false wall is a masterpiece of detail. Robert covered the entire garage opening with a stone-textured backdrop, built a full fireplace mantle complete with candelabras, skulls, potion bottles, and dried florals, and surrounded it with framed portraits in ornate frames. Skull sconces flank the walls. We love the historical haunted house plaque! It’s the kind of display that rewards closer inspection – every inch has something going on.
“I built a wall in front of my garage door and have four televisions mounted inside,” Robert tells us. “One for the fireplace and three using AtmosFX.”
Specifically, those three mounted televisions feature AtmosFX decoration collections UnLiving Portraits and UnLiving Portraits: Halloween Hosts. These decorations are designed precisely for this kind of framed display – creepy portraits that get even creepier the longer you watch them. They just beg to be framed and mounted on walls. (And maybe we could convince Robert to display Flames from Hell individual decoration from Triple Thrill Pack in the fireplace?)
Of course, this is one of the classic effects that AtmosFX decorators have been perfecting since UnLiving Portraits was first released. And Robert’s display certainly belongs among the best!
“Everyone is amazed at how real the pictures look and think it is an awesome display,” Robert adds.
Of course, we’re highlighting Robert’s display now for a reason. Obviously, this was created for a previous Halloween, but by our measure, we’ve already entered into this Halloween season. And that means it is time for all of us to think about what we’ll build. After all, creative vision benefits from a head start – and if this gets you thinking about what you might create for your own garage this October, that’s exactly the point.
