Using Digital Decorations to Celebrate St. Patty’s Day

March 17 is just two weeks away and, given the past few years, we imagine there will be some pretty spectacular St. Patrick’s Day parties here in 2022. And even if you prefer to celebrate the day with your family or a few close friends, either way, we’ve got some great ways to show your spirit. With Happy St. Patrick’s Day Digital Decoration, no matter how you like to show your colors, clever, yet easy, ideas are right here for you.

But first, before we dig into those ideas, let’s wet our whistle with a video provided by longtime AtmosFAN Lee Weber. With green-and-white holiday lights, and both window and wall projections using Happy St. Patrick’s Day, this just might be the gold standard that exists at the end of the rainbow. We never get tired of watching this!

We think St. Patty’s Day deserves this wonderfully over-the-top treatment. But even if you prefer something slightly less labor-intensive, you can still wow your neighbors and family members with a just a few minutes of preparation.

Window Displays: For those familiar digital decorating, this is the most common way to decorate – simply place AtmosFX’s Window Projection Material in your window and project onto it from the inside. It's a great way to show your St. Patty’s Day spirit.

Wall Displays: Depending on the weather, you can project on any wall or ceiling, inside or out. Lee’s video shows how effective a large-scale wall display on his garage door can be. Don’t forget that wall displays are also a great way to create a party-like atmosphere on the inside, too. For instance, projecting Happy St. Patrick’s Day on the wall – or even on the tablecloth of the dining room table – looks great during cocktail hour.

TV or Monitor Displays: Perhaps the simplest way to decorate for the holiday is by simply playing Happy St. Patrick’s Day on your TV. It certainly helps create a festive mood.

Hollusion Displays: A lot to people associate projection displays using AtmosFX Hollusion Projection Material with Halloween, but there’s no reason you can’t use that same illusion of projecting on “thin air” on St. Paddy’s Day, too. For instance, when you string-up the material on your porch, doorway or a garden arch, the magic and wonder associated with leprechauns, rainbows and illusory pots o’ gold will be as mysterious as ever. (And if you still associate Hollusion Projection Material with scarier effects, then see below!)

Scary Displays: We wouldn’t be AtmosFX if we didn’t suggest a way to horrify your holiday. If we learned anything form the 1993 comedy-horror movie, Leprechaun, St. Patrick’s Day can be a little scary, too. (And we’re not just talking about Jennifer Anniston’s film debut, by the way.) If you want to add a little Leprechaun-style creepiness to the day, consider the ghastly green version of Terrors From Beyond, or the green Wicked Wraith or the banshee-like Seductive Siren individual decorations from Phantasms or the Pirate Ghost from Ghostly Apparitions 3.

Guinness Displays: This projection mode is still in the testing phase, but we think it holds great promise. What happens when we project the Happy St. Patrick’s Day onto the foamy head of a pint of Guinness? We’ve been doing some testing in the AtmosFX Developmental Dungeon, and have encountered one key problem: We can’t keep our glasses full!

Perhaps some of our clever fans will be able to find a solution. And if you do, make sure to send them to us using this easy submission form. Until then, in the spirit of St. Patty’s Day, we’ll keep testing. Sláinte!
