For a company that focuses on innovative holiday decorating , the following announcement rests squarely in the good-news/bad-news category:
The AtmosFX Holiday Digital Decorating Kit (and the Media Player) are sold out for the 2016 Halloween and Christmas decorating seasons. They will not be available until 2017.
The good news? This innovative all-in-one kit is clearly a success. The bad news? We don’t have enough for our fans who want them!
But all is not lost. We at AtmosFX have always believed that digital decorating should be really easy. So, for those of you new to digital decorating, we want to show you how easy it can be to create an awesomely cool Halloween display – even without the all-in-one Holiday Digital Decorating Kit.
Note: You can also use AtmosFX Digital Decorations on a TV or monitor – to see how, click here. Also, for a more in-depth article on choosing a projector, you can click here. This article deals with just the basics. (Which is all you really need!)
First, start with a projector. Any projector
Our digital decorations work with any projector – high-end home theater projectors right down to smaller micro-projectors. They all work. But there’s one thing to look for: ANSI lumens. That’s how bright the bulb is. Generally, we recommend at least 1800 lumens. Any lumen count will work – but the lower lumen count, the more limited you will be in where you can use it. The higher the lumen count, the brighter it will be, and the more we think you will be pleased with your display.
What do we recommend? We don’t recommend specific projectors, as each one works a little bit different. We do recommend getting as many lumens as you can for your budget, and then purchase accordingly. Many AtmosFX fans have found great success purchasing inexpensive used projectors on eBay or Craigslist. Others prefer to buy a larger, more robust projectors they can use as part of a home entertainment system when they’re not creating awesome digital decorations. It is up to you.
Next, how do you want to connect to your projector?
The ease in which you connect to projector is also an important consideration – that is clearly one of the strongest selling points of the Holiday Digital Decorating Kit. Typically, you’ll connect to your projector in one of three ways:
- Connect your DVD player to the projector
This is the obvious choice for those who have AtmosFX DVDs. Just plug your player into the projector, just like you’d connect a VCR to your TV. Then, use your DVD remote controller to navigate through the prompts.
- Connect your laptop to your projector
Many fans who purchase AtmosFX digital downloads connect this way. They download the MP4 files onto their computer and, using an HDMI cable, they connect to their projector from their laptops. Then, they use their computer’s video player to play the files.
- Insert SD card into projector
If your projector has a port for an SD card, this is the easiest option – and the method most similar to the Holiday Digital Decorating Kit. Simply pop an AtmosFX SD card into the projector and use its remote control begin the show!
Obviously, some methods are easier than others, but all take just a few minutes. But here's a tip: If you want to create something that has similar ease-of-use to the Holiday Digital Decorating Kit, consider option three. Just look for projectors with SD card slots and a remote control, and then insert an AtmosFX Digital Decoration on an SD card. Easy!
Lastly, where do you want create your display?
This is the homestretch. Once you have your AtmosFX Digital Decorations and a projector, where and how you can create awesome digital decorations are only limited by your imagination. Indoors or out, window or surface projections – even Hollusion or 3DFX projections – are all now part of your holiday decorating arsenal.
